Place one or two pieces of bakhoor on a hot coal or on an electric bakhoor burner. As it warms, it releases fragrant smoke. Let the smoke drift through the room, or hold clothes and the ends of a scarf over it so the scent stays in the fabric.
Use a small amount at a time, keep the burner on a heat-proof surface away from curtains, and never leave burning coal unattended.
Oud-led bakhoor is deep and smoky, traditional for guests, weddings and Fridays. Sweeter and floral bakhoor is lighter and works well for daily home fragrance. If you are new to bakhoor, start with one 30 g pack and a simple burner.
You can order online for delivery anywhere in India, or come and try them at our shops in Hyderabad: Yakutpura, Purani Haveli, Mehdipatnam and Charminar.
